The smooth, mirror-like ice platform was strewn with a hazy and cold mist, which made the whole Ice Palace resemble a wonderland. A magnificent carriage was parked on top of the platform. The curtain of the carriage was pulled open, and a young man peered out from behind it.

“He actually has not arrived yet! It can be clearly seen that he does not attach the least bit of importance to the task assigned by the school.” The young man mumbled with dissatisfied face.

“I have already informed Shidi, he should be coming soon.” Qing Mu replied indifferently, also peeking from behind the curtain.

Qing Mu hasn’t seen Li Jinzhi for nearly half a year. The other person was very hardworking, and his pursuit of power bordered on madness. He participated in neither the activities within the sect nor the leisure activities between the Inner Sect disciples. Completly fitting with the title of an ascetic cultivator.

There were still rumors at the beginning after he entered the sect, that Li Jinzhi had obtained a treasure from the clan elders to have advanced this much in his cultivation. Some disciples indeed went to cause trouble. But what astonished Qing Mu was that, ultimately, these people unexpectedly ended up having a pretty good relationship with Li Jinzhi…

Later, many people saw that the young man put great efforts into cultivating, and those rumors gradually disappeared^[1]. At least, no one brazenly^[2] demanded anything from Li Jinzhi.

It was really eye-popping that Li Jinzhi was included in the team roster for this journey. This kind of errand was voluntary, and with the amount of profit^[3] in it, the great majority of the disciples were all too willing to participate.

However, it was only for the majority of disciples. In the eyes of “ascetic cultivator”, it could only be described as ‘a waste of time’.

This was really strange and Qing Mu couldn’t help but wonder. What was so attractive to the youth to be willing to waste all this time?

As he was thinking about this, a snow-white ray of light pierced the sky like a meteor, until it ultimately landed atop of the platform and scattered. A young man with black hair and gentle appearance slowly walked out from within.

“Yo, this one is still an unkempt ghost who doesn’t even have his hair tied.” The young man flattened his mouth and complained in a low voice, “What a disgrace to the sect. Don’t tell me that a person like this still wants to represent the school and accept disciples?”

As soon as Li Jinzhi walked up to the door of the carriage, he heard these words. He raised an eyebrow, and cast a spell with a finger. The waist long raven black hair fluttered in the breeze and slowly gathered into a bun. Finally, an ice crystal quietly solidified and secured the hair at the back of his head.

“Shidi’s method is good indeed. You have only cultivated till the eighth layer of Qi Refinement, and can already control your spiritual energy in such an exquisite way.” Qing Mu Qing Mu pushed open the carriage door for Li Jinzhi and praised.

“Shixiong.” Li Jinzhi respectfully called out and raised his leg to get into the carriage. “Greetings, Shixiongs.”

“Tt, it was nothing worth mentioning, I can also do such tricks.” That young man was not convinced and, while speaking, he pulled out the jade hairpin that bound his hair so it fell loose. He operated his own spiritual power and, in a flash, scorching heat waves flooded the entire carriage. The young man’s hair rose slightly, however, despite his face turning red with effort, that bundle of hair was still crooked and incapable of being gathered together in a single spot.

Qing Mu gently laughed and dissuaded: “Xu Shidi is somewhat unaware. Just then, Li Shidi’s spell looked simple and ordinary, but in fact, it conceals a profound skill.” He lifted his finger and pointed at the other’s scattered hair, “Look, the spiritual power has to bind the hair from all sides. Moreover, it requires the spiritual power to be equal^[4] from all directions. Then, and only then, will it not end up being a mess.”

The young man glared at Li Jinzhi, his face flushed, and his gathered spiritual power became even more unstable^[5]. After a booming sound, the messy and fluttering black hair emitted smoke and a burnt smell. The hot spiritual energy unexpectedly directly transformed into matter, and due to the high temperature, burned the hair of the young man surnamed Xu.

“Aiya^[6], Shidi your hair!” The person sitting on the other side called out.

“Ah!” The young man, flustered, scattered the spiritual energy and pulled the burning hair over, brushing away the fire. “My hair! My hair!” He involuntarily shouted looking at the charred hair.

“Eh, I say, Xu Shidi, cut off the scorched part. This smell is really unpleasant.” That person said while covering his nose and frowning.

“Feng Gu! What do you mean?! One’s body, hair and skin all come from one’s parents^[7]! Can the hair be cut casually?!” The young man surnamed Xu tugged at his hair and scolded, standing up.

“Xu Ming, can it be that you think it is possible to keep this hair? You burned it yourself. For what reason are you making all of us suffer!” Feng Gu said resentfully.

Xu Ming still wanted to say something, only for Qing Mu to utter, “Alright, alright. Xu Shidi, you also have to accept his point. One’s body, hair and skin all come from one’s parents. It’s only natural^[8] that it cannot be cut off as one wishes. However, if you keep this scorched part, it it won’t look good when you go out.” He smiled consolingly. “We are going out representing the school. It would certainly not be good if we lost face for our Ice Faith sect.”

With his face frozen after these words, Xu Ming hesitantly sat back down without uttering a word.

“Xu Ming Shidi needs not hesitate like this. You are the one who burned your hair in the first place. Simply remove the scorched part, that’s all.” Feng Gu said giddily, “Would you like for this Shixiong to help you cut it?” After that, a current of blade-like wind condensed to the side of Xu Ming’s body and circled around.

Once Xu Ming saw the hovering Wind Blade, his pupils shrank. Restraining his fear, he immediately handed over the scorched part, saying through clenched teeth, “In that case, I would have to trouble Shixiong.”

As soon as his voice fell, the blade-like wind current, carrying a forceful momentum, flew forward. With a whoosh, the hair dropped. However, before it fell to the ground, it was shredded by that Wind Blade and drifted into the void.

Li Jinzhi looked at the length of that scorched hair dissipating in the air, and his pupils shrank. That Wind Blade, in a twinkling of an eye, cut that hair into nothingness. The speed and density of the Wind Blade could raise people’s hackles^[9].

The carriage was quiet for a while, then Qing Mu laughed brightly. “Feng Gu Shidi’s control over his Wind spiritual energy is even more admirable.” After he sais that, he looked out of the window, “I presume it is fine to set off now. We will first go to Absolute Snow city^[10], as it is the closest.” He announced and then signed a magic spell with his fingers, decidedly whipping one of the horses. The white horse looked up at the sky, neighed, reared and stamped his hooves in a speedy gallop.

Absolute Snow City was the city where the female lead Ye Die’er and the villain Ye Yu were located. Li Jinzhi raised an eyebrow when he heard the place’s name, and quickly recalled all the relevant information about Absolute Snow city he possessed.

It was written in the 《Geography of the Northern Region》 that the Absolute Snow city got its name due to it having extreme snowfalls throughout the year. Located to the west of the North Arctic Region, it was adjacent to the Arctic city, with a natural ice wall as a boundary in between them. Therefore, the two cities did not communicate much with each other.

At that time, Li Jinzhi flipped through a great amount of general knowledge^[11] regarding this place. Known by the name of Green Flame Continent, it was divided into five regions, with the North Arctic Region located in the northernmost part of the mainland; covered with ice and snow. Since cultivators in other regions were not used to the climate of this region, it was the most closed off one. As a consequence, over time, it has become irrelevant to the other regions.

The North Arctic Region was also divided between Immortal Sects and Demonic Cults—

Immortal Sects were located in the north-west side of the region, with the Ice Faith sect as the first amongst them. Its affiliated cities were: Absolute Snow, Arctic and Absolute Ice. Every year, Ice Faith sect sent a group of disciples to go and recruit those with spiritual roots. Other Immortal Sects, such as Concealed Verdant sect and Seven Passions sect also had affiliated cities, though the scale was far inferior to that of the Ice Faith sect.

Demonic Cults were located in the south-east, headed by the Demonic Domain cult. The scale of distribution was almost identical to that of the Immortal Sects, therefore, the two were balanced. They have been at peace and lived in harmony^[12] for many years past.
